Champions League

In addtion to the League and Fa cup, this season I am going to introduce some European Action, The Champions League!

The Champions league is designed not to pit individual teams against eachother, instead it draws managers against eachother by adding the scores of all 3 teams together. Any manager who only entered 1 team can also compete, their scores will be multiplied by 3 in order so that all managers can compete together.

This competition will determine the manager who's teams are consistent as a whole as opposed to having just one fluke team that may snatch them victory. Hence the qualifying round lasts 2 weeks instead of just one.

Qualifying

There are 20 managers who entered 3 teams this season, and 7 who entered single teams. This also includes Sunny & Jas and Joe & Michelle (each pair entered 3 teams between them). The 27 mangers will firstly be randomly drawn into 4 groups, groups A, B and C will consist of 4 triple managers and 2 single managers. Because of the odd number of single managers, group D will only have 1 single manager. Theres not much I can do about this so you'll just have to put with it.

Weeks 6 and 7 are set aside for the Champions League Qualifier, where basically each managers score will be the sum of his 3 teams scores for those two weeks. The champions League qualifying rounds takes place between Saturday 30/09/06 and Friday 13/10/06 [Week 6-7]

The 4 managers in each group with the highest scores will proceed to the group stages, and the others will be eliminated. Each of the qualified managers remains in the same group and have their points reset to 0.

The group stage will be split into 3 seperate weeks:

Group Game 1: Manager A vs. Manager D, Manager B vs. Manager C Games takes place between Saturday 21/10/06 and Friday 07/11/06 [Week 10]

Group Game 2: Manager A vs. Manager C, Manager B vs. Manager D Games takes place between Saturday 11/11/06 and Friday 18/11/06 [Week 13]

Group Game 3: Manager A vs. Manager B, Manager C vs. Manager D Games takes place between Saturday 02/12/06 and Friday 09/11/06 [Week 16]

For each group game, the team that scores the highest will get 3pts and in the event of a draw each team will get 1pt. After the 3 games, the top two managers in each group will progress, and goal difference will be taken into account where 2 teams have the same points.
